Swimming Pool Compliance Assessment
Arcsite, is authorised by the ACT Government to conduct swimming pool compliance inspections under ACT pool fence regulations, helping homeowners ensure their safety barriers meet legal requirements. These rules aim to increase safety by ensuring all home swimming pools and spas in the ACT are fenced to current standards, with clear requirements for barrier maintenance and preventing access when pools are not in use.
The home swimming pool safety reforms will apply to a home swimming pool or spa that is:
capable of containing water to a depth greater than 30cm; and associated with a residential building such as a house, unit, townhouse or block of apartments.
This applies to all pool types, including in-ground, above-ground, temporary, portable, kids’ pools, and spas. From 1 May 2024, ACT pool and spa owners have four years to ensure their barrier meets safety standards and to obtain a compliance certificate. Required changes depend on the current barrier and the pool’s location on the property. For swimming pool compliance assessments, if a follow-up visit is required after rectification works are completed, an additional fee of $265 + GST applies for the site inspection.
